Elevator Operator

Job Description

Cummings Electrical is in need of a professional and friendly Elevator Operator to assist on a construction finish-out project and work along world-class construction crews!

This is a site based position on a project in Dallas, TX.

GENERAL ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of work being performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties and/or skills required. Additional responsibilities may also be assigned.)

  • Learn and follow safety regulations.

  • Operates elevator to transport passengers between floors of industrial or commercial establishment.

  • Pushes buttons or moves lever to control movement of elevator on signal or instructions from passengers or others.

  • Opens and closes safety gate and door of elevator at each floor where stop is made.

  • Supplies information to passengers, such as location of offices, merchandise, or individuals.

  • May perform other duties, such as preventing unauthorized persons from entering building, and assisting other employees.

  • May sweep or vacuum elevator.


  • 1-3 years experience

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED required

  • Able to work 40+ hours a week

  • Prior construction elevator operation experience preferred

  • The ability to think clearly and problem solve in a fast-paced enviroment

  • Ability to stay calm under pressure

  • Comfortable in a construction setting

  • Agile - You move quick, think quick, and are always ready to help.

  • Manage own time and the time of others

  • Basic English language proficiency (readying,written and verbal)

  • Ability to work at heights more than 180 ft.

  • Ability to perform work in confined spaces

  • Ability to perform work wearing PPE such as hardhats, safety glasses, fall protection, safety shoes, etc.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to perform possible maintenance tasks, use various tools, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, twist, crouch, or crawl.

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

  • Employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, at heights, in precarious places; in the presence of airborne particles.

  • The noise level in the work environment may require the use of hearing protection.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
